Michael Lange is self-taught and has been producing reports, documentaries and portraits for Stern, Geo, Art, Zeitmagazin and many others, as well as for various national and international companies since the late 1970s. Since 1996 Lange has pursued several freelance projects, such as the project "WALD - Landschaften der Erinnerung", from 2009-2011.
In the cycle WALD, two levels are brought into harmony - experienced nature and deep, remembered landscapes, such as the mythological images from childhood, fairy tales or the paintings of Romanticism, which form a collective memory of the forest. The central question of the series is that of silence and how to approach this fleeting, intangible space.
