Tamara Lorenz studied photography at the ICP, New York and media art with Prof. Jürgen Klauke and Prof. Peter Zimmermann at the Academy of Media Arts, Cologne. In 2006, she received the Chargesheimer Scholarship of the City of Cologne, among other awards. Her work has been shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions in institutional settings both in Germany and abroad.
Illusionary reality: The photography in the edition is a double exposure on negative film of two different motifs. These motifs show three-dimensional constructions arranged for the camera. Here, space relates to surface as surface relates to space.
The photographed space behaves in the photographic surface and folds back out of the surface into the space as a photograph.
