Felix Hoffmann, is an exhibition organizer, visual and cultural scientist and founding director of the Center for Photography and Lens Based Media FOTO ARSENAL WIEN (www.fotoarsenalwien.at), director of FOTO WIEN (www.fotowien.at) and co-director of the VIENNA DIGITAL CULTURES festival (from May 2025). In this area, he curated exhibitions in 2023/24 with Beate Gütschow, Mari Katayama and the group exhibition “Crossing Lines. Politics of Images” curated. The final location of the FOTO ARSENAL will open in 2025.
From 2005 to 2022, he was chief curator of the exhibition house C/O Berlin, where he was responsible for exhibitions, programs and strategy. There he curated numerous international exhibitions, including Nan Goldin (2009), Robert Mapplethorpe, Peter Lindbergh (2011), Gordon Parks (2014), Ren Hang and Elfie Semotan (2018) and William Eggleston (2023), as well as thematic exhibitions such as “uncannily familiar. Images of Terror” (2011), ”The Last Image. Photography and Death” (2018) or ”Send me an Image. From Postcards to Social Media” (2020). Hoffmann is the editor and author of numerous books and texts.
The Jury
The submitted works were reviewed by the jury and selected for a group exhibition at the Photoszene Festival, which will take place from 12 May to 11 June 2023 in the rooms of the Michael Horbach Foundation.
