We meet the playful, courageous and outgoing trans woman Tina in the photos by Tahmineh Monzavi. In protected spaces and in the public realm of Tehran, Monzavi’s always close, yet never intrusive gaze traces the attitude towards life of a minority in Iran.
Antoin Sevruguin's photographs offer a rare portrayal of Iranian women in the 19th century. His images leave room for interpretation. In the context of current debates about gender and identity, his works take on a new significance.
