In 2022, Anne Nwanneka travelled to Lagos in Nigeria. She stayed there for two weeks, accompanied by her husband, from whom she was already separated. He helped her to get about and take photographs. It would have been difficult alone; her body was conspicuous; she couldn’t not get seen. This journey was a farewell to her family, a love story, and an identity tied up with all those which overcame many boundaries. Yet the journey was also an act of getting closer to the city and to herself.
