For her multi-award-winning series 'of suddenly growing up, Tamara Eckhardt followed young mothers aged between 16 and 21 from the suburban Berlin district Marzahn-Hellersdorf. Portraits, moments of pause and found still-lifes provide an insight into the challenges of motherhood and growing up as well as into the loving relationship between mother and child. Letters by the young mothers complete the series and delineate their hopes and expectations of a new future.
