All populists make the same promise: they want to give the people a voice and lead them to power. In One of Yours, Spanish photographer Daniel Mayrit analyses the rise of resurgent nationalism in the West. For his project, he slipped into the role of a fictional politician, revealing the similarities in visual language and rhetoric of figures such as Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, Marine Le Pen or Jörg Haider.
THE BOX - the showroom of the PhotoBookMuseum at Körnerstraße becomes Mayrit's fictitious campaign office, where he masterly twists the visual codes, the buzzwords and the gestures of these demagogues and thus warns us forcefully against them.
