Would you like to take a short or long photo tour of the Photoszene Festival 2023?
How about a tour on the right side of the Rhine? We have prepared a route for you, on which you will find all the exhibition venues in Mülheim, Deutz and the distant Sürth, you just pick out your raisins or make several stages on different days. We recommend a tour with a mobile vehicle.
But be careful: For one thing, some of the exhibition venues on this route close before the official end of the festival, so you'd better make time for it on the first weekend. Also, make sure that all the venues are open on the day you have chosen for your tour. You can find the respective opening hours at the very bottom of the page
No. 72 - You'll start at schaelpic photokunstbar / Atelier für Mediengestaltung (Schanzenstr. 27), where Tobias D. Kern's intense black-and-white photographs of bunker and forest architecture will take us to Hartmannswillerkopf, a hilltop in the southern Vosges Mountains that was fiercely contested during World War I.
No. 34 - From there, walk or drive to the Keupstraße 10 studio (Keupstraße 10), where Michael Wagener draws on old analog photographic material, which he cuts up, scratches, glues, colors or flambés.
No. 64 + 65 - Where, if not on Keupstraße, can you fortify yourself with a fantastic Turkish lunch before taking a slightly longer walk towards KunstWerk Köln e.V. (Deutz-Mülheimer Str. 115).
Two exhibitions await you here: On the one hand, 14 female photographers from the Female Photoclub NRW will find very individual answers to the questions: what is normal and what is normality through different photographic approaches? What is the norm and how does it show up in our daily lives?
On the other hand, the exhibition 'Balance' examines the status of human influence on nature with artistic photographic means.
No. 31 - As a final detour on this tour, you can stop by artbooks store / artbooksonline (Deutzer Freiheit 107). In the exhibition 'Voice Over Sync' Tamara Lorenz shows the work of the same name and her artist books. In addition, the special edition 'Relational Phenomenon' is on display.
No. 11 - For diehards who picked a day with nice weather, it can go one stop further: In the far south, the FUHRWERKSWAAGE / MOUNTAINVIEW Gallery (Bergstr. 79) shows works by Christian Gieraths from Odessa: interior views of public buildings (hospital, theater, etc.), as well as street scenes.
By the way, from here you can quickly get back to Cologne's Südstadt with streetcar lines 16 and 17, where a number of other Photoszene Festival exhibitions are waiting for you.
