Jérôme Lenzen says:
I like art spaces where mediation is the focus. That's why this year, as always, I'm drawn to Galerie Koppelmann in Nippes, where the entire team around gallery owner Janine Koppelmann is passionate about talking about art and bringing their visitors closer to the works.
This year I am especially excited about the new space BEISTE_Satellite in Brüsseler Straße. Antonia Gruber and Co have an exciting location there as an interim cultural use. Temporary concepts like this interest me a lot.
For years I have been following Philipp Gabriel's analog photography with great interest, so this year I am especially looking forward to his first solo exhibition at Bunker K101 in Cologne Ehrenfeld. For years, the location has allowed for undisturbed enjoyment of art, because no one has cell phone reception there....
As a Lindenthaler, I confess to being a big fan of the Museum of East Asian Art. A great cultural place in the inner green belt, directly at the Aachener Weiher. Therefore I will of course visit the exhibition of Hatakeyama Naoya there.
This year I'm also particularly excited about the Vibrant Waters exhibition curated by Nada Rosa Schroer at the Temporary Gallery. This venue, under the direction of Aneta Rostkowska, has become a top address for contemporary art in recent years, not only in Cologne, but throughout Germany.
I am still deeply impressed by Lucinda Devlin's solo exhibition Frames of Reference in the SK Stiftung Kultur's Photographic Collection. The contrast between execution rooms on the one hand and pleasure grounds on the other is both unsettling and unsettling for the viewer.
I recommend a visit to the art spaces of the Michael Horbach Foundation, and not only to those living in the southern part of the city. An impressive place for the art scene has been created in Wormser Straße. That's why I'm also taking a look at the exhibition Photography in Progress: Fragile Infrastructures.
