Andreas Gefeller, born in Düsseldorf in 1970, studied photography in Essen and lives and works in Düsseldorf. His work has been presented in numerous national and international solo and group exhibitions to date. Among other awards, he received silver for the work "Blank" at the Hamburg Lead Awards 2013.
In "Blank", Gefeller dedicates himself to urban, industrial places with the help of processed satellite images. These move between documentation and construction. They show urban centres and their unstoppable expansion. The overexposure of the images leaves only remnants of detail, which appear silhouetted, invisible and harbour an intimate silence that seems to seek to decelerate the stimulus-flooded everyday life.
