'ANALOG PAST' depicts Michael Wagener’s examination of his own photographic yesterdays. Along the way he uses old analogue photographic material, which he cuts up, scratches, glues, dyes or flambés. In doing so he plays with images of his memory and, in a world of digital smoothness, lays emphasis on the chaos of the analogue and haptic. In the process, the formal aesthetic experiments unfold their own narrative, in an idiosyncratic spatial exhibition ambience.
