An island has always been an imaginary world between founding myth, vague refuge and exotic wilderness: a landing-place that is there for the conquering but one never knows, in advance, if one will reach it. That is the theme of 'Archipelago', the exhibition by Corinna Del Bianco (www.corinnadelbianco.com), which is on view at the Italian Cultural Institute in Cologne. It is the outcome of a research project to document the diversity of the Mediterranean islands, especially the inhabited ones.
