Helena Weber, born 1985, is a historian, curator and author who works and lives in Cologne. After studying history, Western Slavic studies and English at the universities of Cologne and Krakow, she worked as a research assistant in the Department of Theory and History of Photography at the Art History Institute of the University of Cologne and as a freelance photo editor at the photo agency United Archives. Since 2014, she has worked as a curatorial assistant at several cultural history museums, where she has realised some of her own photo-historical exhibitions. Among others, at the Ruhr Museum Essen, the City Museums Leipzig and Dresden and most recently at the Haus der Geschichte in Bonn. Since 2022, she has been in charge of the Photoszene's Artist Meets Archive programme, together with Inga Schneider.
The International Photoscene Cologne has been driven forward since the 1980s by the ideas and commitment of numerous people from the museum and gallery scene, politics and business. Since 2013, Heide Häusler has led the institution as artistic director and managing director. Together with Inga Schneider and Damian Zimmermann, she forms the Artistic Board. A whole lot of great people from the fields of art history, art, journalism and the creative industries in general are involved in the programme and the orientation of the Photoscene. With their impulses and approaches, they all ensure the polyphony of the programme.
